Plot summary
Barry Ryan runs the Sydney gambling clubs and makes his money from the casino slot machines, and the American soldiers who come to the city on leave from Vietnam keep the business busy. Mafia figures arrive wanting a share: Tony, a weary veteran, and Sal, his violent partner. Rival Freddie tries to take over the clubs with machines of his own. Barry's nephew Darcy comes home from the war and starts working for his uncle without knowing what he is getting into. Barry also has his wife Sharon, his mistress Margaret and detective-sergeant Ray, a crooked officer, to deal with.
