Danny Deckchair (2003) on Netflix

Plot summary

Danny Morgan drives a concrete truck and lives in Sydney with his girlfriend Trudy Dunphy, who wants bright lights and fast times while he yearns for a simpler life. Their annual camping trip is called off when Trudy says she must work, and Danny sees her with Sandy Upman, a reporter. At a backyard barbecue he ties helium balloons to his deckchair and his friends hold the chair down; when they inadvertently let go, he is carried across Australia and becomes a national sensation. A thunderstorm batters him, and fireworks at a small town's macadamia festival burst most of the balloons and set him on fire. He crashes into a tree in Glenda Lake's yard, and she tells the firemen and townsfolk that he is a professor she knew in college.
