Dakota (2022) on Netflix

Plot summary

Kate Sanders lost her husband Clay, a Marine, in Afghanistan. She divides her time between the family farm in Georgia and the town's volunteer fire department, which she runs, and she is raising their daughter Alex on her own. Sergeant CJ Malcolm, a fellow Afghanistan veteran who served with Clay, drives out to the farm to deliver Dakota, a combat dog, because Clay had asked that the animal come home to his family if he did not survive. Dakota settles in on the farm, keeps watch over the family, and Alex and the dog grow close. Sheriff Danforth keeps pressing Kate to sell the land.
