Plot summary
Alice presents herself as a biologist who has just come back from studying frogs in Tasmania. Clyde meets her at a cafeteria and brings her to a birthday dinner for his coworker Tom, where she tells the guests about the life she has led, including a year in Mexico she never told her family about. The stories leave some of them questioning her. Tom is certain he knows her and calls her by another name. His wife Ramina has news of her own: a fellowship in California she has been accepted into.
