Plot summary
With troops needed back east, trouble in the Colorado Territory is holding Federal reinforcements where they are. The United States Secret Service has no men to spare beyond one, so military intelligence officer Lieutenant Jerry Burke is ordered to Denver to learn who is behind the Indian uprisings and the secessionist propaganda and to put an end to it. President Abraham Lincoln signs a sweeping letter granting him both law enforcement and military powers. Burke looks up his old comrade Gabby, and the two ride west on a stagecoach. Also aboard are Lylah Sanford, who is going to Denver to be married, and Etta Mae.
