Plot summary
Evan Shaw has worked for more than twenty years as a lone CIA operative, killing targets he believes are named in genuine missions. His instructions reach him as coded messages placed in the "Help Wanted" columns of newspapers, a channel he has followed without question. Kacey Walker, an analyst for MI6, spots a pattern linking a string of assassinations and confronts him with evidence that Kevin Angler, the handler he relies on, died long ago and that the division he thinks he serves no longer exists. Shaw dismisses her claims and insists his handler and unit remain active. With nowhere else to turn, the pair work together to find out who is behind his assignments.
