Plot summary
Ellen Langford's father wants to retire, but he worries that she is not ready to run his company. Each Christmas he and his former partner Zeke exchange letters in person in Snow Falls, the New England town where the business began. Jim sends Ellen there to hand-deliver this year's letter, gives her $100 in cash, and tells her to travel incognito. In Snow Falls she meets Jake, who manages the guest house, and his aunt Debbie, who runs the local diner. Zeke has just left for his cabin, so Ellen books a room and waits for him, spending what little money she has. To pay for another night, she takes work as a housekeeper for Jake at the inn.
