Plot summary
Danny gets a puppy called Charlie as a present for his first birthday. Ten years on, Charlie is elderly, and he and the cat next door, Puddy, are taken up by a spaceship, along with Danny, so that an alien prince can consider them as pets. The prince turns them down, and his mother, the Queen, sends them back to Earth. Charlie is young again, can speak, and has superpowers. Puddy can also talk, has grown much bigger, and has telekinesis and sharper intelligence. Charlie is asked to stay out of sight, but he keeps using his powers to help people, and the President pays tribute to him. When Wonderdog Dog Food displaces Puddy's favorite brand, Puddy starts to scheme against Charlie.
