Plot summary
A stray tabby cat travels from New York to Atlantic City to Wilmington, North Carolina, tying together three stories. In the first, Dick Morrison takes a friend's advice and joins Quitters, Inc., where supervisor Vinnie Donatti promises a hundred percent success through brutal methods: every cigarette Dick smokes will bring consequences down on his family. In the second, casino owner Cressner has Johnny Norris kidnapped over an affair with his wife and offers him a wager: Norris must walk the ledge outside the penthouse, or police will find planted drugs in his car. In the third, Amanda adopts the traveling cat and names him General, but her mother dislikes cats and puts him outside at night, while a small troll has gotten into the house.
