Plot summary
Ethan Kopek is a TSA officer at LAX who has grown cynical after the police academy rejected him for hiding his father's criminal past. On Christmas Eve, his pregnant girlfriend Nora urges him to reapply, but Ethan instead requests a baggage-scanning lane from his supervisor Phil Sarkowski, hoping to show he deserves a promotion. During the shift, an earbud connects him to a ruthless mercenary called the Traveler, who tells Ethan to let a particular carry-on case through the scanner and warns that Nora will be killed if he disobeys. The Traveler's accomplice, the Watcher, watches Ethan and stops his attempts to raise the alarm.

- Although the film is set at Los Angeles International Airport, the only scenes shot at LAX were the exteriors of the theme building and control tower; all terminal, concourse and restricted-area scenes were filmed in the decommissioned terminal of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
- Screenwriter T. J. Fixman received extensive expert advice about airport security but deliberately used artistic license with TSA procedures for the sake of the storyline.
