Plot summary
Harlow Reid is an affluent African American psychiatrist. He is found guilty of murdering his wife, Amber Reid, and sent to a federal prison, though he insists he is innocent. Officials place him in solitary in the Security Housing Unit, where he becomes a victim of abuse and works on an appeal. Officer Sacks, a guard there, is set on dispensing justice in her own way. He is also haunted by hallucinations of his dead wife.
