Plot summary
Rowdy oil-field workers have flooded a small California town, and the locals want the peace restored. Ben Arnold, one of the residents, is hired to assist the police, and he turns to his brother Aaron, a Vietnam War veteran. Aaron brings in mercenaries with combat training, and together they take on the job of protecting the town from the workers.

- During the final shootout, the crew blew up a blue van parked over an oil pipeline, and the pipeline caught fire after the initial explosion. Armitage called it a mishap that was not really the production's fault.
- Director George Armitage named characters after Revolutionary War figures: Jan-Michael Vincent's Ben Arnold after Benedict Arnold, Kris Kristofferson's Aaron after Aaron Burr, and Judson Pratt's Harry Lee after Light-Horse Harry Lee.
- Production designer Jack Fisk worked on the film with, in Armitage's words, no money and no budget, and Sissy Spacek served as assistant art director.
- Armitage said the 30-day shoot in the Simi Valley was rough at 108 degrees, but the crew still finished on time and under budget.
