Plot summary
The military has been running tests for the C.H.U.D. project, which rests on the notion that enzymes from the creatures living in the sewers can turn soldiers into hyper-effective killing machines. The government orders the tests stopped, and the experiment's last specimen, Bud Oliver, known as Bud the C.H.U.D., is kept in a small-town office of the Centers for Disease Control. Three teenagers break in and take the body for a high school prank, and it wakes as they handle it.
