Rich Hall

Rich Hall is an American comedian, actor, writer, director and musician who became known in the 1980s as a sketch performer. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, he began writing and performing on the original daytime David Letterman Show, winning a 1981 Emmy Award for writing. He joined the cast of Fridays and then co-wrote and starred in Not Necessarily the News from 1983 to 1990, introducing the term sniglet. He also appeared on Saturday Night Live for its tenth season, in 1984 and 1985. After taking a Perrier Comedy Award in 2000 as country singer Otis Lee Crenshaw, he built a following in the United Kingdom, where he is a frequent guest on QI and similar quiz programs. For the BBC he made his own comedy series and wrote and presented documentaries about American film and culture. He voiced Captain Taylor in Thunderbirds Are Go and an Idaho man in Arthur Christmas (2011).
