Plot summary

Butter is the name a bully stuck on a severely obese high schooler in Scottsdale, Arizona, after making him swallow an entire stick of butter. His mother, Marian, works in real estate and enables his eating; his father, Frank, a former football captain, stays distant after an accident hurt his eye. Butter takes pleasure in the saxophone, which he plays at a jazz club alongside his teacher, Professor Dunn, and in online chats with his crush, Anna McGinn, who knows him only as JP. When his attempt to stop the bully from harassing Anna goes wrong and the school blog turns on him, Butter announces that on New Year's Day he will eat himself to death while streaming live. Classmates treat him as a celebrity, and viewers send in ideas for his final menu.
