Plot summary
Veronika Daniels hosts the morning show Rise and Shine, and with her on-air partner leaving, she says she will pick a new co-host from a group of candidates that includes Charlie Fisher, a New York newscaster whose father was a broadcasting legend. Emily Morgan, who reports human interest stories for a Connecticut station, makes an on-air plea for the job; the clip spreads online and the network adds her to the running. Veronika welcomes the rivalry and sets the two of them a contest: over the two weeks before Christmas, each covers the season's most meaningful stories for the local news, with her choice to come at the Christmas Day telethon. Emily and Charlie were once in love.
