Plot summary
Scott is a songwriter who returns to his hometown in Georgia after a long time away, and the family and friends he left behind are estranged from him. Laura has stayed in that town, working as a receptionist, in a life she settled for out of fear of following her dreams. The two were childhood friends. Both think themselves above the people around them, and both are unhappy with the choices they have made. Over one autumn weekend in Macon, they meet again at a crossroads in their lives.
