Plot summary

A Friday night of clubs and drinking in Los Angeles ends the next morning with an accusation of rape. The story rewinds twenty hours to the eight twenty-somethings at the center of it. Four women get dressed and talk about sex, then move from a bar to a rave; four men drink and talk about sex among themselves. Attorneys Rick and Jane arranged the evening and pair off at the club, while Whitney, Emma, Shawn, and Trent meet there by chance. Sara, drinking from early in the night, leaves with Michael, a rookie pro-football player. Around four in the morning she turns up at Jane's door, battered and bleeding, and says she was raped. He calls it consensual; her memory of the details is incomplete. Their night is shown from both points of view.
