Adina Porter
Biography
Adina Porter is an American actress who started out on the stage and became known for her work in television. Raised in New York City, she performed in Off-Broadway and regional productions, among them The Debutante Ball and Hurricane, and her turn in Venus brought her an Obie Award in 1996. In 2001 she made her first Broadway appearance, in a Roundabout Theater revival of The Women. Her early screen work included small parts in films such as Body Shots (1999), and she played Ricky in the HBO adaptation of Lackawanna Blues (2005), a role that earned her a Black Reel Award. She is best known for Lettie Mae Thornton on True Blood, Kendra James on The Newsroom, Indra on The 100 and Sheriff Susan Peterkin on Outer Banks, and her American Horror Story roles brought a Primetime Emmy nomination and two Saturn Award nominations.
