Plot summary
Lauren Reynolds, divorced and raising sons Brendan and Tyler, is pushed into a blind date with Jim, a widower bringing up daughters Hilary, Espn and Lou. The evening at Hooters goes badly and both of them walk away determined not to repeat it. Their paths cross again at a pharmacy, where a cashier mixes up their credit cards. When Lauren's friend Jen breaks up with her boyfriend Dick, who is also Jim's boss, the trip to Africa Dick had planned becomes available. Lauren takes Jen's share; Jim arranges the other half with Dick. Both families arrive at the same South African resort for spring break, are placed in a romantic suite, and are grouped with other families for a blended familymoon, where Hilary takes an interest in Eddy's teenage son Jake.
