Plot summary
Kahndaq lives under the boot of Intergang, and the archaeologist Adrianna Tomaz hunts the Crown of Sabbac alongside her brother Karim and two companions, Samir and Ishmael. The crown is a relic that King Ahk-Ton forged in ancient days, when his people mined Eternium for him, to gain power and invincibility. In a tomb, Adrianna takes hold of it, and with Intergang troops closing in she speaks an incantation that rouses Teth-Adam, a superhuman who has slept for millennia. The Intergang troops fall before him. The government official Amanda Waller calls him a threat and enlists the Justice Society, whose members are Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher.

Dwayne Johnson pitched a Superman cameo to DC Films president Walter Hamada, who rejected it; Johnson then mediated a one-off deal that Henry Cavill signed over the 2022 Labor Day holiday and was paid $250,000 for.- Reshoots on Black Adam were postponed because Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was using most of the studio space at Trilith, and the film's cost ballooned from a greenlit $190 million to as much as $260 million.
- Black Adam initially received an R rating because of several gruesome death scenes, and many cuts had to be made for it to receive the lower PG-13 rating.
- After studio executives worried that Dwayne Johnson was being used as a supporting villain, he met with DC's Geoff Johns in January 2017 and the project was split into Shazam! and Black Adam, with Johnson starring as the title antihero.
- The mid-credits scene uses John Williams' Superman (1978) theme rather than Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel (2013) theme; Henry Cavill said it was chosen because it was more recognizable to audiences.
- Dwayne Johnson said Hawkgirl was originally included in the film's Justice Society, but for a complicated reason she could not be used and was replaced with Cyclone.
