Plot summary
Kate Sanders arrives as a new student at a ballet academy in Paris, where the dancers train for one reward: a place with the Opéra national de Paris, awarded to one male and one female dancer. On her first day, a comment she makes about Ollie, a former pupil who died, brings Ollie's sister, Marine Durand, down on her, and the headmistress, Madame Brunelle, criticizes her. Kate is assigned to share Marine's room.
