Plot summary
Korea's 1997 financial crisis has brought Gukbo, the country's leading soju company, to the edge of bankruptcy. The global investment firm Solqueen sends Choi In-beom, an ambitious young associate, back to his home country with Gukbo as his first target. Pyo Jong-rok, Gukbo's chief financial officer, is loyal to the company and wants it rescued rather than sold. Seok Jin-woo is the heir of Gukbo Group, and Koo Young-mo is the lawyer representing it. In-beom approaches Jong-rok as a consultant who can restore the business, keeping the takeover he has in mind to himself, and the two men set to work with opposite goals.

- Director Choi Yoon-jin was dismissed from Big Deal by the production company The Lamp over allegations of script appropriation, and her name was omitted from the final credits. A Seoul court rejected her injunction to reverse the dismissal, so the film was released without her directorial credit.
