Plot summary
Bulryeongsa is an anarchist group of fourteen Korean and five Japanese members, and Park Yeol leads it. The group argues over methods for resisting Japanese harassment of Koreans, and Yeol settles on a bomb aimed at Prince Hirohito. The Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 then ruins much of Tokyo, and Home Minister Mizuno Rentarō spreads word that Koreans are poisoning wells and setting fires. Japanese vigilantes take revenge on Koreans, killing more than six thousand in the Kanto Massacre. To push the massacre out of public discussion, Mizuno builds a case against Yeol's group over the prince. Fumiko Kaneko, Yeol's Japanese comrade and partner, is charged alongside him.
