Plot summary
When her flight to Tokyo is canceled, Freddie, 25, spends two weeks in Seoul, the country where she was born and from which a French family adopted her. She grows close to Tena, who works the desk at her hotel, and spends a night with a man she meets while eating out. Tena and a friend tell her about the Hammond Adoption Center. Freddie says she is not looking for her biological parents, then visits the agency anyway. By law the staff cannot reveal anything about her parents, but they can send them up to three telegrams a year on her behalf. She goes to Gunsan for a short, uncomfortable meeting with her father, and Tena comes along to translate.
