Plot summary
A massive earthquake and an unprecedented cold wave destroy Seoul, leaving only Hwang Gung Apartments standing. Min-seong wakes to find the city reduced to dust and rubble. Inside, he and his wife, Myeong-hwa, try to adapt with no power, water or communication, while other residents panic and follow emergency manuals that prove useless. That night a mother and child from the neighboring collapsed building beg for shelter, and Myeong-hwa's compassion wins out over Min-seong's hesitation. Outsiders have also taken vacant units, and when residents return, the outsiders refuse to leave.
