Big break
Penikett was cast as Karl "Helo" Agathon in the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, a role not based on a character from the original show and intended to be confined to the miniseries only. Producers and test audiences were impressed enough that Helo was made a recurring character on the full series.
A role that slipped away
Penikett appeared as Kurtis Stryker in the opening two episodes of Warner Bros' Mortal Kombat: Legacy, which first aired on YouTube in April 2011. Eric Jacobus replaced him for season 2.
