Plot summary
Lily Colson is a high school senior in Salem who spends her time with her best friends, Bex Warren and the sisters Sarah and Em Lacey. At a party, Bex gets together with Diamond, and Lily, who has a boyfriend named Mark, texts a man she knows only as Daddy. A hacker named Marty receives pictures of Mayor Bartlett from an unknown sender and sends them to the whole town. When half of Salem's private information is leaked, the residents turn on one another.

- The sequence in which the girls are attacked in Nance's home was shot as a single take, achieved using a crane.
- A turning point in the score came when Sam Levinson received the song "Rage" from his friend Isabella Summers, whom Hultquist had met when their bands Florence and the Machine and Passion Pit toured together; the song ended up in the soundtrack.
- Ian Hultquist wrote the film's score; he said Levinson gave him a completely blank slate, and at one point he composed an entire soundtrack in the style of Ennio Morricone's Spaghetti Western work.
