Plot summary
Marybeth Dunstan survives an attack by Victor Crowley, the deformed killer who haunts the Louisiana swamps, and Jack Cracker takes her to his cabin. When Jack hears her last name he tells her to leave and to seek out Reverend Zombie. Zombie reveals that her father, Sampson, helped start the fire that killed Victor as a child, and he also tells of Thomas, who cheated on his dying wife Shyann; Shyann cursed the child Lena bore, and Lena died of fright at the baby's deformed face. Marybeth wants her father's and brother's remains brought out of the swamp. Zombie agrees to help only if a relative comes along, so he summons hunters and offers them five thousand dollars for Victor's head. Her uncle Bob agrees to join the trip.

- After opening unrated in 68 U.S. theaters on October 1, 2010, Hatchet II was pulled from American theaters just three days later on October 4, and its planned Toronto and Montreal releases were scrapped because the cities' provincial rating boards had not rated the film.
- To stop plot details from leaking, the production kept the real script from the crew and gave most of the cast only select pages, while circulating fake scripts and fake endings around the industry and barring visitors from the set.
