Plot summary
A pandemic wiped out most of the population and civilization broke down. Fifteen years on, Paul lives on a derelict farm with his twin sons, Joseph and Thomas. Thomas, the greater risk-taker of the two, is secretly in love with Charlotte Rose, whose family farms nearby. Joseph, the more intellectual brother, talks of improving their situation beyond survival and has been restoring an off-road vehicle in the barn. One evening after dinner the three hear loud banging from the cellar; the next morning Paul finds deep gouges on the cellar door.
