Plot summary
In 1983, two million copies of E.T. for the Atari 2600 are dumped in a landfill outside Alamogordo, New Mexico. Game executive Mandi of Cockburn Industries proposes a deliberately poor sequel called EeeTee 2, counting on a review by the Nerd to drive his fans to buy it. The Nerd has become disheartened: his viewers keep buying the games he warns them away from, and his job at GameCops has him promoting bad games. When marketing for EeeTee 2 appears, his fans urge him to review the original E.T., which scarred him as a child. He decides to travel to Alamogordo with Cooper and Mandi, funded by Cockburn, to debunk the story of the buried cartridges. General Dark Onward, who believes the group is hunting extraterrestrials, pursues them with Sergeant McButter.
