Plot summary

In Rome in the early 1950s, Nando Moriconi is devoted to everything that comes from the States. He copies what he finds in movies from the States: a white t-shirt, jeans, a cowboy belt, a baseball cap, a studded leather wristband, and a bedroom arranged like a Hollywood set. He calls his girlfriend Elvira Elvy and his parents papi and mami, and he lives ordinary days as if they were scenes from an American film with himself in the leading part. He eats cornflakes with ketchup. Elvira loves him, and his mother and father are desperate. His aim is a life in the United States, but he is well known as a boy crazy for America, and the trouble he has caused does not help him.
