Plot summary
In 2012, four armed militants seize Turkish Alliance 127 on the runway and demand the release of comrades held in custody. The CIA's Vienna station responds, and Henry Pelham learns that Ilyas Shushani, a Chechen who once informed for him, may be tied to the group. Celia Harrison, his lover and colleague at the station, meets a possible source named Mohammed. Headquarters later reopens the case, suspecting that a leak at the station cost more than 100 lives, and Henry is sent to Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, to interview Celia, who is retired. He asks her to recall the events of the hijacking.
