Plot summary
Eric Daniels, a returning war veteran with PTSD, is driving his sixteen-year-old sister Maddie across the Tobin Memorial Bridge outside Boston when traffic stops for a police transport carrying a prisoner, Samantha Brown. A heavily armed group of ex-military revolutionists led by Jimmy sets off explosives that break the bridge in half, stranding the drivers. Eric calls 911 and asks for SWAT, but cannot make the dispatchers understand how serious the situation is. The group threatens the people stuck on the span, takes their cellphones and binds their hands to their steering wheels with plastic ties. Eric and Maddie are among those trapped, and Eric begins working to free himself.

- Nathan Graham Davis first wrote the script for Aftermath in September 2011, but the film was only greenlit on 1 January 2022, when he turned in his final draft, eleven years later.
- Once the producers realized Dylan Sprouse could be cast as the lead of Aftermath, major changes were made to Nathan Graham Davis's script, including the age of the lead, Eric, and turning his daughter into his sister.
