Adam is a shy Jewish teenager in 1987 when he spots Steve, a Dazzle Dancer, performing at Danceteria. The two flirt and go to Adam's apartment, where Steve offers Adam his first hit of cocaine, which had been cut with baby laxative without Steve's knowledge. The encounter ends in humiliation and Steve flees. Seventeen years later, Adam works as a Manhattan tour guide and Steve as a psychiatrist. Adam's injured dog brings them together at a hospital, and neither man places the other.
