Plot summary
Mike Fallon, known as the Accident Man, moves to Malta to get away from London and the guilt he carries. He takes contract work abroad and pays the martial artist Wong Siu-ling to fight him at unexpected moments so his skills stay sharp. His old friend Finicky Fred turns up with no money and is allowed to move in and help with jobs, and together they build a workshop for Fred's gadgets. Mrs. Zuuzer then has the two of them brought to her: a contract has been placed on her son Dante, and she wants Mike to find whoever issued it, with Fred's life as the price of refusal.
