A Street Cat Named Bob (2016) on Netflix

Plot summary

James Bowen sleeps on the streets of London, a former heroin addict with almost no money left. After a drug-related incident that threatens his life, his support worker Val moves him into a council flat and puts him on methadone. That first night he finds a cat going through his food, assumes it escaped from somewhere and tries to return it to its owners. The cat comes back the same evening with an infected wound on a back leg. James asks his neighbor Betty, who loves animals but is allergic to them, for advice; she names the cat Bob and tells him about a charity vet where she volunteers. He takes Bob there, misses a meeting with Val, has the cat neutered and turns it loose, but Bob keeps trailing him into town.
