Akbar Kurtha
Biography
The British actor and producer Akbar Kurtha made his screen debut as Manjit in Bhaji on the Beach (1993). Television work followed in the mid-1990s, with episodes of The Tomorrow People, One for the Road and the crime drama Thief Takers, and he played Farid in My Son the Fanatic (1997). He was Samuel Kahn in Esther Kahn (2000), then became known for playing Dr. Rana Mistry in the BBC serial Doctors. Other credits include appearances in Lloyd and Hill, Casualty, Keen Eddie, EastEnders and Waking the Dead, the film Syriana (2005), the drama series Liar and Mars, and Kosnice (2012). He has also taken roles in radio plays such as Mary Something Takes the Veil and worked behind the scenes as a production assistant.
