Heaven Is for Real (2014) on Netflix

Plot summary

Todd Burpo pastors a Wesleyan church in Imperial, Nebraska, coaches wrestling and installs garage doors. A broken leg and kidney stones keep him from his congregation. He and his wife Sonja take Cassie and Colton to Denver, and on the drive home the children fall ill. Colton's fever climbs, and doctors find a ruptured appendix, telling his parents to prepare for the worst. While Sonja phones friends to ask for prayer, Todd sits in the hospital chapel. The surgery succeeds and Colton recovers. He says he is no longer afraid and wants to hold the tarantula he once refused to touch. At a playground Todd asks him why, and Colton says he left his body during the operation and went to heaven, where he met Jesus. He describes seeing his parents in two separate rooms.
