Plot summary
After her parents die in a car accident, fifteen-year-old Isabel Sullivan moves to a small town to stay with her uncle Paul, the town's mayor. Friendless and alone there, she meets a stray dog that is really a robot called A.R.C.H.I.E., able to talk, run at blinding speed and use super strength and X-ray vision. Isabel teaches it how to behave like an ordinary pet, and it helps her get in with the popular crowd. She tells it about losing her parents, and it relates, never having had a family. Paul is running for re-election against Veronica, who is in league with Burgertropolis, a national fast food chain that has spent years trying to buy him out. Then a man named Hugh Jablonski arrives, saying A.R.C.H.I.E. belongs to him.
