A Life Among Elephants (2024) on Netflix

Plot summary

Sixty years ago almost nothing was known about elephants in the wild. Iain Douglas-Hamilton, a young Scottish biologist, moved to Tanzania in 1965 to live alongside the herds and record how they behave. His wife Oria and their daughters Saba and Dudu joined him there, and the elephants became central to the family's life. Individual animals were known to the family by name, among them the matriarch Boadicea and a young mother called Virgo, cherished almost like relatives. The work he began there changed what was known about the animals, and the documentary sets wildlife imagery alongside the story of his life.
