Plot summary
Kathleen has spent thirty years remembering the Christmas Eve her father left her and her mother, and she blames her mother for that night. She will not mark the holiday at all. Now, in the days before Christmas, a blizzard traps her inside her own house with two other people: Lucy, the daughter of the man Kathleen is soon to marry, and Sam, an older man she has taken in for the night. Snowed in together, she finds the old wounds opened again and faces a choice between releasing the hurt she has carried and holding on to her bitterness.
