Plot summary
In 2151, an oppressive class war has ended. Miller, a pregnant officer, is aboard a starship when it is destroyed. She and four others survive by crowding into an escape pod meant for four. Rescue looks close, but before it can arrive a mysterious and vicious life form boards their craft and attacks them. The creature is determined to become the dominant species.
