Plot summary
A tech blogger, Franklin campaigns against wrongdoing in the drug industry, above all at the company behind Zonastin, the painkiller that left his twin sister Natalie addicted and led to her death. He secures an interview with Anton Burrell, a tech mogul about to unveil the Tri-Band 5, a wrist device built on neuro-technology that manages diabetes, high blood pressure and addiction without drugs. During Burrell's presentation an armed attacker goes after him, and Franklin steps in, saving his life. In the confusion Franklin discovers a ring Burrell dropped. Putting it on, he finds it can send him 57 seconds into the past. He first uses it for personal gain, winning at gambling and courting his colleague Jala, and then turns back to his mission against the pharmaceutical executive.
