Plot summary
An experiment by Tony Nelson, who aims to send objects into a fourth dimension, ends in a fire that destroys his laboratory. Unemployed, Tony seeks out his brother Scott, a researcher at the Fairview Research Center in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Scott drives the development of Cargonite, a material dense enough to be impenetrable, while his employer Theodore W. Carson takes much of the credit. Scott takes Tony's amplifier and uses it on himself, finding that he can pass his hand through a block of steel with the power switched off. Tony asks him to keep the ability hidden until possible side effects are tested. Linda Davis, Scott's girlfriend and assistant, has fallen for Tony.
