45 Years (2015) on Netflix

Plot summary

Kate and Geoff Mercer, a retired, childless couple in Norfolk, are planning a party for their 45th wedding anniversary, five years after Geoff's heart bypass forced them to cancel the celebration of their 40th. A letter arrives: in Switzerland, on a glacier where Katya fell into a crevasse more than fifty years earlier, the remains of Geoff's German lover have come to light. The authorities there treat him as her next of kin, because he and Katya had once pretended to be married to share a room. Geoff grows moody and starts smoking again, and Kate asks to see a photograph of Katya.
