Plot summary
Morning begins in Minninnewah, a small town in Oklahoma, and the residents start a day that looks ordinary. The lives of four families are intertwined, and each household has its own trouble. Among the matters they wrestle with are abortion, closeted homosexuality, undocumented immigration and religious intolerance. Then a tornado, the largest on record, is detected on a path toward the town. The thirteen minutes of the title are the time the residents have to seek shelter before it arrives. Each family must protect the people it loves and fight for their lives, and the families' differences will have to be overcome if they are to survive.
