Plot summary
Zee Blakeley, a socialite in her forties, is locked in a marriage that is nearly over; she and her husband Robert, an architect, spend their time in verbal sparring matches. Robert tires of the fighting and is drawn to Stella, a young widow who owns a quiet boutique and is the opposite of Zee in personality. Zee, bored and rejected, makes repeated attempts to regain her husband's attention, including an attempt on her own life, and none of them work. She turns her attention to Stella, who now holds Robert's interest, and looks for a way to break the couple apart.
