Plot summary
A group of war veterans travels to a lakeside cabin in the Northwest for a week of duck shooting and drinking. Charlie is among them, and he comes hoping to travel and to set aside the grief he carries over his son, who died in Vietnam. The lakehouse is looked after by David, a young caretaker, and Linda, his fiancée, is staying there as well. None of the men knows anything about David's past when they arrive. When they learn that he is a deserter from the war, the week they had planned at the lake is thrown into upheaval.
