Plot summary
The broadcast is framed as a taped copy of a Halloween special that WNUF aired on October 31, 1987. Frank Stewart, a reporter for the station, goes live from the Webber House, where a husband and wife were killed. Their son Donald, the suspected murderer, said demons he summoned with a Ouija board ordered the killings, and the house has been called haunted since. An unnamed police officer says he and fellow officers have seen strange things there. Louis and Claire Berger, two paranormal investigators, say a menacing presence fills the house and that anyone inside is in danger, and Frank dismisses their fears. He also brings in Father Joseph Matheson, described as a Catholic priest versed in exorcism.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about WNUF Halloween Special (2013)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- To publicize the film, LaMartina and the movie's producers left behind multiple VHS copies of the WNUF Halloween Special in various locations, such as the bathrooms and tables of a VHS convention in Pennsylvania, intending to start a successful whisper campaign.
- While filming, director Chris LaMartina shot on vintage tape stock to make the film closely resemble 1980s footage. Knowing most viewers would instantly tell it was not an actual broadcast from the 1980s, he aimed instead for "a love letter to VHS and public access TV."
- Filming took place in an old rectory in Timonium, Maryland, and the crew made multiple copies of the film on several VCRs to degrade the film quality to where it would more closely resemble a bootleg VHS tape.
